About Puja

Ratha Saptami is revered as the divine birthday of Lord Sūrya, the day when the Sun God is believed to begin His cosmic journey in the celestial chariot. This sacred occasion is ideal for invoking the blessings of the solar deity for health, vitality, clarity of mind, and freedom from diseases.
The puja begins with Abhiṣekam to the Sūrya idol, followed by Sūrya Yantra Pūja, invoking the radiant energy of the Sun through sacred geometry. This is followed by 72 Surya Namaskārams, performed while chanting powerful mantras dedicated to Lord Sūrya from the Ṛgveda and Yajurveda. After completing the Namaskāra, the same Vedic Surya mantras are offered into the sacred fire through the Aruṇa / Sūrya Havan, carrying the devotee’s prayers to the solar deity through Agni.
The scriptures praise Surya worship on this day:

“ratha-saptamyāṃ snātvā sūryaṃ saṃpūjya bhaktitaḥ
sarva-roga-vinirmukto bhavet saṃvatsaraṃ dhruvam”

— “One who worships the Sun with devotion on Ratha Saptami is freed from diseases for the entire year.”
Our learned team of Pandits at Vedavidhi will perform this sacred Surya Sādhanā with strict adherence to Vedic tradition, seeking Lord Sūrya’s blessings for good health, longevity, confidence, and spiritual illumination in the lives of devotees.
