About Puja

Mauni Amāvasyā is a supremely sacred day for ancestral peace, karmic purification, and silent surrender. On this powerful occasion, the Pitru Pāśupata Abhiṣekam will be performed at the holy kṣetra of Srisailam, the abode of Sri Mallikārjuna Jyotirlinga, to invoke Lord Shiva’s grace for the liberation and upliftment of departed ancestors.
The puja begins with Sankalpam for Pitru Doṣa Nivāraṇa, followed by the sacred Pāśupata Abhiṣekam, where Lord Shiva is bathed with holy substances while chanting powerful Pāśupata mantras, dedicating the merit of the ritual to one’s forefathers. Special Pitru arpaṇas are then offered, seeking forgiveness of ancestral karmas and removal of unseen blockages affecting the family line.
The scriptures glorify the power of Pitru worship:

“न पितृभ्यः परो धर्मो नास्ति तेषां समं तपः ।
तस्मात् पितॄन् समाराध्य श्रेयः प्राप्नोति मानवः ॥”

— “There is no duty higher than service to one’s ancestors; by satisfying the Pitṛs, a person attains supreme welfare.”

Our learned team of Pandits at Vedavidhi will perform this sacred Pitru Pāśupata Abhiṣekam at Srisailam with strict adherence to Vedic tradition, praying for Pitru doṣa nivāraṇa, ancestral peace, family harmony, and lasting divine protection.
